We are seeking strong candidates with strong research experience to fill a Researcher position within BCG's Data & Researcher Services Center. S/he will contribute to BCG's client work/knowledge base by conducting research across multiple sectors within the financial institution practice area (mainly Retail Banking, Wholesale Banking, Asset Management, Wealth Management, Transaction Banking). The ideal candidate should be able to successfully deliver on a variety of requests through the day. The environment is fast-paced and may need the Researcher to connect with the consultants/knowledge teams to refine/understand the scope, devise an appropriate approach and package and deliver to the satisfaction of the customer. The Researcher will be a strong problem-solver and will work well independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. This professional will welcome the opportunity to grow and learn in an apprenticeship culture where they can quickly build and expand their research knowledge base to the next level.
Conducting research and gathering accurate data/information from relevant and qualified data sources. Creating a comprehensive research scope by understanding the request objectives and proactively suggesting the most appropriate research approach/methodology
Performing a variety of analyses such as benchmarking, trends identification and analysis, industry and company and people profiling, market study, growth projections, opportunity scanning, to add value to problem-solving discussions
Providing insight, and practical implications within tight deadlines, via end products in the form of single exhibits, written summaries, basic fact packs/slides, and spreadsheets
Serving as a thought-partner, leveraging internal team members and external knowledge partners, to engage in team problem-solving, share evolving insights, analysis and best practices, and contribute to knowledge creation initiatives
Articulating research needs by setting them in context of the business problem, and putting together relevant information on regional/ local economics/ regulatory environment using a broad spectrum of appropriate sources
Ensuring the right and accurate information by evaluating/validating the source quality, besides identifying possible considerations for the source
Understanding the information needs of newly started project teams and connecting them with the best possible internal experts. To do so the candidate will learn about the content of internal BCG products.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS & KEY COMPETENCIES
University degree with demonstrated high academic record
Written and oral fluency in English + fluent in another European language (German preferred, Spanish)
2-4 + years of general research experience in Financial Institutions. (Financial Institutions - Banking, Financial Services). Sound understanding of the banking industry, banking ecosystem and banking financials is important
Proven research and commercial database searching capabilities (e.g. SNL financial, Thomson, Bloomberg, Orbis, Alacra, Factiva, etc.)
Solid problem-solving ability to exhibit lateral thinking
Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multi-task
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Alteryx and Tableau is an added advantage.
